Monday July 25th Coastal Battery at St Survan-sur-Mer While looking for signs for St Malo, we stumbled across the Battery at St Survan-sur-Mer. These concrete gun emplacements were built into existing stone fortifications from an earlier era of costal defense. Memorial plaques mark the liberation dates of St Malo in August 1944. ![](http://www.sacarr.co.uk/milpics/normandy05/25th_st_survan_sur_mer1.jpg) ![](http://www.sacarr.co.uk/milpics/normandy05/25th_st_survan_sur_mer2.jpg)

Tuesday July 26th Bad Start to the Day Monday night and Tuesday were dominated by heavy rain. The phrase "Falling like stair rods" didn't even begin to describe how heavy it was. As a result, going out in "Jessie" was a complete non-starter, we needed an Amphibian. We took the normal car out instead and headed off into the storm. The Resistance Museum Outside the museum in the grounds are several examples of allied and German armour, including anti-aircraft guns, field guns and a cast hull Sherman. Also on display there is a range finding unit which would be located with every coastal gun battery. ![](http://www.sacarr.co.uk/milpics/normandy05/26th_resistance1.jpg) ![](http://www.sacarr.co.uk/milpics/normandy05/26th_resistance2.jpg)
